Allowlisting - Public IP and private IP addresses

Public and private IP addresses serve different purposes in your network. In some cases, you could need BOC to allowlist some IPs of your network, to reach your BOC-hosted ADONIS, ADOIT or ADOGRC.

In such cases, BOC technical support will need your public IP addresses.

Private IP addresses are used within a local network, enabling internal communication and keeping devices on that network separate from the public internet.

Public IP addresses

Global Uniqueness: Each public IP address is distinct and visible on the internet.

Internet Access: Devices with public IP addresses can directly connect to the internet.

External Communication: Public IP addresses are used to identify devices on the internet, allowing communication with other devices and services globally.

 

Private IP addresses

Local Network:
Private IP addresses are used within a specific network, such as your home or office network.

Internal Communication:
Devices within the same network can communicate with each other using private IP addresses.

Not Routable on the Internet:
Private IP addresses are not directly accessible from the internet.
