BOC PowerBI Template April 29, 2026 13:09 Updated To create a unified and customizable starting point for data analysis, BOC Group offers a free PowerBi TemplateThis template serves as a starting point for your own integration and can be individually customized to fit your system environment. It requires a standard configuration with all objects and references – if these are missing, error messages will occur. The connection between your BOC Management product and PowerBI is established via the REST API, using either Basic Auth or the recommended OAuth 2.0 method. To ensure full functionality, it is essential to enable HATEOAS links. A complete setup guide can be found in the official wiki at BOC-Group/ConnectForPowerBI: Templates to connect ADONIS and ADOIT with PowerBI. Please note: When customizing or building your own PowerBI template for the production environment, it is essential to follow the best practices for REST-API usage outlined here: Best Practices | BOC Developer Portal As this template is offered free of charge, support services will be provided on a limited basis. Once the connection is established and data appears in the template, individual customizations can be requested through your customer support. For connection issues, our technical customer support is available to assist. For further adaptions requests, please get in contact with your key account manager for a consulting offer. TroubleshootingExample: There are no references between risks and processes in your ADONIS environment. This could be displayed via a "Column1" Error. Check Data Connection Open the Power Query Editor (Transform Data) in PowerBI. If data is present despite initial error messages, the connection to ADONIS has been successfully established, and data was correctly retrieved. Check Individual Queries The first query ("Risks") generally runs without errors. Problems usually start with the third query, "Process_Risk_relation". Check References in ADONIS Open the "Analysis Usage" tool in ADONIS and check if risks reference processes. If no process is assigned to a risk, the "Process_Risk_relation" query will rightly fail. Adjust PowerBI Template A quick way might be to delete the problematic query. However, this only works to a certain extent because PowerBI queries are usually dependent on each other. Delete the problematic queries like "Process_Risk_relation" via right-click in your template. Proceed query by query until the issue is resolved.
